Tradition's New Home

I'm sure you've probably heard many polarizing reviews about the hockey experience at the Barclay's Center, but I assure you, the experience can be cozy and enjoyable. My seats in section 225 gave me a full view of the ice at an economic price and the Islanders put on a fantastic performance against a fantastic team. The staff was courteous and cooperative, the seats were comfy and the sight-line was very nice. The entry into the arena needs to be improved, it's a slow and tedious process and it needs to be addressed, it took us nearly a half hour just to enter the arena.

Great atmosphere

The people at the "New" coliseum did a great job with this event. All the employees were very polite and each one said welcome back. It was my first time at the renovated arena and I thought they did a great job. The seats were very comfortable. I was pleased that for the most part the arena feels like the old one. The concourse was nicely redone, and others could complain that it's still cramped. But to me that's part of the original building. The game itself truly did feel a lot more than a preseason game. The place was rocking just like the old days. I am hopeful that the powers to be will bring the islanders back for more than a preseason game.

Disappointed In-Game Experience

I was a season ticket holder from year #2 until they moved to Brooklyn. Tuesday's game, regardless of the outcome on the ice, was very poorly presented. There were virtually no replays displayed on the overhead scoreboard after goals, penalties and/or significant plays. Very curious as to why that was. The public address announcer did not repeat the calls which is a departure from normalcy. Maybe that is a new procedure but I think it should be reinstated. He also did not note that it was "Neal's 2nd and then 3rd and then 4th of the game". I was there with my 12 year old son and I think the replays, repeating the goals and penalties are key in-game components for confirming what we see live. No disrespect to the current public announcer but Roger Luce is an ideal announcer.
